Bakery takes fresh bread to everyone's home in Silves, Portimão and Lagoa

Anyone who wants to order bread can do so by calling 965 763 841 or 927 867 836 or via the bakery's Facebook page

Have you ever thought about receiving fresh bread at the door, without leaving the house, in these days when it is so important that we stay safe? This is exactly what Padaria Odelouca is doing, in the municipalities of Silves, Lagoa and Portimão.

The initiative was born a few days ago, but already has the support of "many people". Who says so is Ricardo Silva, one of the bakery's managers.

«We already had a Facebook page and then my brother, who also works with me, decided to go ahead with the idea», begins by framing the Sul Informação.

Bakery Odelouca already made some home deliveries, but, in these times we live in, it has decided to "extend the service". Why? "There are so many people who need help," says Ricardo Silva promptly.

So, whoever wants, can order homemade bread, loaf or carcasses. This is the offer available and prices vary between 45 cents (carcasses) and 2,5 euros for bread, depending on the weight. Before the bread arrives, the person receives a warning.

For now, the bakery has made «between 100 and 200 daily deliveries», divided by these three municipalities (Portimão, Lagoa and Silves). And, pay attention, they really go everywhere, whether in the county seats or in more remote locations. «In Silves, for example, we have been to Algoz or Armação de Pêra», illustrates Ricardo Silva.

The requests come from both older people, "who don't even have to leave the house", as well as younger people, who also internalized the need for all of us to be modest during the Covid-19 pandemic.

«What we want is to help and we notice that this has happened!», concludes Ricardo Silva.

Anyone who wants to order bread can do so by calling 965 763 841 or 927 867 836 or by calling Facebook page from the Odelouca Bakery.

Payment is made in cash, but, according to Ricardo Silva, «following all the recommendations, namely using gloves and disinfecting them».
