The Algarve has yet another confirmed case of Covid-19, the Directorate-General for Health has just announced in its bulletin this Wednesday, March 11th. Sul Informação knows that this is a 17-year-old girl from Portimão, admitted to the Hospital de Faro and who is a student of the teacher at Escola EB 2,3 José Buisel, who is also infected.
This third confirmed case is not from the Secondary Teixeira Gomes, as it had been said, at first, to the Sul Informação, by Paulo Morgado, President of the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve.
The first infected, in Portimão, was a 16 year old girl, whose case was revealed on Sunday, March 8th. The following day it was learned that the girl's mother, teacher at Escola EB 2,3 José Buisel, also had coronavirus.
Both schools have been closed since Monday. The City Council of Portimão took other measures to contain it, closing the Museum, the Swimming Pools or the Portimão Arena.
Just today, in the DGS bulletin, 18 more cases of people infected with Covid-19 were revealed. The total number in Portugal is 59: 36 in the North, 17 in Lisbon and 3 in the Algarve. Alentejo, Azores and Madeira still do not have confirmed cases of coronavirus.
There are still, across the country, 471 suspects, 83 people awaiting test results and 3066 contacts under surveillance.
Updated at 15:57 am, with the information that the young woman is a student at Escola José Buisel and the infected teacher who teaches at that school.
