Coronavirus: current on WhatsApp guarantees that two people have already died. It's fake.

Polygraph fact check

A report of an alleged doctor who guarantees that the first Portuguese person infected with Covid-19 has died virally on social media. According to the professional, it was a 60-year-old man admitted to Curry Cabral. The information is being conveyed through a Whatsapp audio and has already reached thousands of Portuguese.

“The information is not passing in the most realistic way. We, doctors and health professionals, have privileged information in the sense that we talk to each other and get a sense of what is going on in hospitals. Since yesterday afternoon we are realizing the scale of this”, can be heard in the audio.

And he continues: “Today a man at Curry Cabral has died, who was at CUF but was transferred, he was 60 years old and the only risk factor was the fact of smoking. It is the first death we have of a Portuguese, and last night a man died in the Margem Sul area. It was an Italian who was here, 64 years old. The INEM team that intubated him is all in quarantine.”

The General Directorate of Health denied to the Polygraph that it is true until 16 pm today. In Portugal, for the time being, there has been no death caused by the new coronavirus. So far 78 cases have been confirmed and 4923 are under surveillance.
