British resident in Lagoa is the third death by Covid-19 in the Algarve

The information was confirmed by Luís Encarnação, president of the Chamber of Lagoa

A man, British national and over 70 years old, residing in Benagil (Lagoa), died this Saturday, March 28, victim of Covid-19. This is the third death recorded in the region of a person infected with the new coronavirus.

The information was confirmed by Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa, to Sul Informação.

The mayor explained that the citizen "was admitted to the Hospital of Faro» and that, as he died today, «it still does not appear in the figures of the Directorate-General for Health». Luís Encarnação lamented the death, sending the family «the most sincere condolences».

This is the second death by Covid-19 recorded in the municipality of Lagoa. This is because the teacher at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School, who passed away on Friday, March 27, lived in the parish of Carvoeiro.

The other death in the region was from a 77 years old, who lived in Albufeira.
