Did Sagres cease production as a preventive measure due to the Covid-19 pandemic? It's fake!

Polygraph fact-check

In a publication that is being shared on social networks, the following can be read: “INFORMATION. Temporary closure of production. It is informed that on March 13 of the current year, production services for the Sagres drink will be closed indefinitely, due to contingency plans for the coronavirus. For more information, contact your sales manager.”

Is the information confirmed?

No. The Polygraph contacted the Central Beer and Beverages Society (SCC) which denied the alleged information about the temporary closure of Sagres beer production.

“The Cervejeira de Vialonga, from the Central de Cervejas Group, where Cerveja Sagres is produced, denies the false and bad faith information circulated today on social networks that its production would be suspended due to Covid-19”, stated Nuno Pinto de Magalhães, Director of Communication and International Relations at SCC.

In conclusion, the content of the publication posted on social networks is false, Sagres did not stop production as a preventive measure against the coronavirus.
