Câmara de Lagos is already thinking about post-Covid-19

Spring has just started and is being marked by the epidemic caused by the new , but the Câmara de Lagos has already started to think about next summer, which is expected to be a period after Covid-19, and to plan the occupation of the free time of the young Lacobrigenses in July and August.

The executive councilor Lacobrigense approved this week the conditions for participation in the Viver o Verão 2020 program and the novelty, this year, «is the addition of vacancies and the generalization of the “Morning and Afternoon” mode of participation to all project nuclei, namely to the Luz pole, similarly to what was already happening with the centers of Lagos, Odiáxere and Bensafrim», revealed the Câmara de Lagos.

The program, which has a budget of over 170 euros and has the involvement and support of parish councils and local clubs, among other partners, will have more than 350 places for children aged 6 to 15 years and 180 places for young people monitors.

Its objective is “to facilitate the management of families that have their peak work during the summer, needing to occupy their children and young people in a playful and pedagogical way”.

With regard to the participants, «they will be distinguished between the minis and the juniors, the latter being the participants aged 14 and 15 who, not yet having the possibility to play the role of monitors, accompany the little ones in activities and start learning with monitors, so that in future editions they will be more prepared to assume this task and responsibility».

The monitors, "who must be between 16 and 25 years old, will mostly accompany the participating children, with some vacancies being defined for those who wish to collaborate in the actions of environmental promotion and awareness that will be developed in the bathing areas by the municipal services".

Applications for the project, which for young people take place from April 6th to 24th and for children from May 4th to 15th, are made online, in a form to be available soon on the Viver o Verão website, where the regulation of the program can also be found, with the detailed conditions of participation.

In case of doubt, interested parties may contact the local authority services by telephone 282 780 900 or email [email protected].

The municipality of Lacobrigense stresses that the implementation of the program depends on the evolution of the Covid-19 outbreak in Portugal.
