Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense receives vote of praise from the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel

Praise recognizes the collective work in preserving the centuries-old tradition of Charolas

The City Council of São Brás de Alportel delivered a vote of praise to the Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense, in recognition of the «meritorious work developed for many decades» by this community, in the year that celebrates «100 years of Charolas, a tradition of greatest importance in the popular culture the region».

The praise, which was delivered on Tuesday, is, moreover, closely linked to the «beautiful and so significant tradition of Charolas», which, according to the São Brasense city council, has promoted with «relevant commitment» the preservation of this tradition , in addition to being a partner of the municipality of São Brás de Alportel in various cultural initiatives.

Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense, through Rui Vargues, reciprocated the gesture and dedicated the court to the executive «For the gesture that pleases us/Express our pleasure/From Bordeira to São Brás/Thank you very much».

«Founded in 1936, Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense had in its genesis the tradition of charolas, particularly in the charolas “Mocidade União (created in 1918) and “União Bordeirense” (created in 1919). His dedication to this tradition, rooted in collective memory, echoes in the neighboring peoples of Alportel who, since time immemorial, have shared knowledge and traditions with the people of Bordeira», describes the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.

«With a strong regional expression, the Society is a center of cultural dynamism, preservation and enhancement of traditions, habits and customs, taking its creations to the most diverse national stages. Composed of elements of the most diverse ages, the Society organizes recitals and plays, marches, groups and charola meetings, among other initiatives that keep alive its activity and intergenerational wealth», adds the municipality.
