Project promoted by In Loco inaugurated a Mobile Food Education Unit

The Mobile Food Education Unit of the “Right Plate” project was inaugurated last Friday, in Faro, on the same day that the Food Education Strategy “Prato Certo” was presented.

This vehicle will take food education actions open to the entire community to various parts of the Algarve, such as the one that took place on the 7th, in Faro.

In this session, «the principles of the communication strategy were demonstrated in a practical way, making a tasty, healthy and economical dish, by the hands of the Head Abílio Guerreiro, with the support of the nutritionist Catarina Vasconcelos and the Prato Certo team”, according to the In Loco association, the promoter of this project.

On the other hand, the social investors of “Prato Certo”, namely the councils of Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Monchique, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel, Silves, Tavira, Vila do Bispo and the companies “Lima Com Pimenta”, “Nutrimeio” and “Quintinha da Su”, presented the strategy of this initiative, supported by Portugal Social Innovation Program – Partnerships for Impact.

«The objective of this food education strategy focuses on empowering people, families, schools, IPSS, companies and communities so that they can make their daily food choices in an informed way and based on the principles of the Mediterranean lifestyle (inscribed in the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) and the dietary pattern associated with it, classified by the WHO and by the scientific community as one of the healthiest and most sustainable in the world», summarized In Loco.

The event on the 7th also had the participation of the Food Security Observatory partnership.
