Laranja returns to be a star in Silves, accompanied by Ana Moura and Rita Guerra

Mostra da Orange starts on Friday and lasts until Sunday

The world of citrus, but also wine, regional products, sweets, handicraft and gastronomy, but also Ana Moura and Rita Guerra, will be highlighted in a new edition of the Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja, which will take place between Friday and Sunday, the 14th and 16th, at Fissul, in Silves.

The event will be attended by dozens of exhibitors, as well as a varied program, which will include the already traditional Laranja XXI Conference, a cocktail competition, product presentations by different companies, street entertainment and music.

The official opening of the event is scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, followed by the presentation of the Orange Route.

On the same day, at 14 pm, a new edition of the Orange XXI Conference will take place, «a space for debate and reflection on the issues that currently concern citrus growers and pose challenges to this sector».

In the first part of the conference, presentations will be made on “Citriculture: challenges and constraints”, by José Oliveira, from AlgarOrange (14:30 pm), “Migrant Workers – SEF's response”, by Rogério Gonçalves, head of the SEF delegation in Portimão (14:50 pm ) and “Projeto Erasmus Citrivet – use of firewood from citrus pruning”, Anabela Assunção Cordeiro, professor at Escola Profissional Cândido Guerreiro (15:10).

After the coffee break at 15:50, Luís Neto, from the University of Algarve, will talk about the “Possible effects of climate change on citrus pests”. “Water Resources Management in the Algarve – Use of Water in Agriculture” will be the topic addressed by Paulo Cruz, from APA-ARH do Algarve, at 16:10 pm, and at 16:30 pm José Carlos Tomás, from DRAP Algarve, will address the theme “Irrigation citrus fruit in deficient situations”.

On Friday night, at 22 pm, Rita Guerra takes to the stage of the fair, after performances by local groups and associations, which will also have a prominent place in the cultural program of the event.

On Saturday afternoon, at 14:30 pm, presentations of products by various companies will begin in the Fissul auditorium.

Shortly after, at 15 pm, the 00 Orange Cocktail Festival begins, bringing together professionals from the Algarve. In this initiative, the technique, decoration and the best cocktail made by the competing bartenders will be evaluated, in two aspects: Classical and Flair.

The classic winner will represent Associação Barmen Algarve in the “World Tour” competition in Tenerife. This event is promoted by Associação Barmen do Algarve, in partnership with the Municipality of Silves.

At 22 pm, it's time for another concert with a well-known artist, this time the fado singer Ana Moura.

On Sunday, the program invests heavily in local associations and ends with a concert “From fashion to fashion”, at 22 pm.

Also from Friday, and parallel to this event, another edition of the Orange Flavor Weekend.

The 4th Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja is organized by the Chamber of Silves and has a partnership with DRAPAlg, UALG, RTA, Silves School Group and Silves-Sul School Group.
