Castro Marim City Council launched a campaign that aims to celebrate love, in its most diverse forms. For this, records will be collected, stories will be shared and new forms of expression will be sought that «refine and awaken the senses to this feeling so vast and where so many revelations fit».
"Assuming love in the public cause and awakening to the beneficial effects of sharing affections in building a happier society" are some of the objectives of this initiative, as explained by the municipality.
"Whether in public service or in political exercise, there are people with the will and predisposition to serve a community, a municipality, a region or a country", adds the municipality.
In parallel, this municipal action promotes "the need to protect the other, by the desire to create actions and projects that contribute to greater social well-being and greater individual happiness in the community."
“Celebrating Love, every day and in every gesture, is a way of showing affection. Its meaning is so broad, its need so basic, its revelation so comprehensive”, underlines vice-president Filomena Sintra, motivator of this campaign.
The idea, continues the vice president, is to value the individual and the socio-cultural and economic wealth of the community, with this campaign being “a way of awakening, sensitizing and cultivating affectionate relationships, whether at school, at home, in the library, in nature , in parenting and also in politics, in any existential stage”.
Among the actions carried out in this campaign, the reading of some children's works with the little ones, the dynamization of activities/games at home and in the nurseries, the message carried door-to-door by the Mobile Unit of Health and poetry and literature around this theme, made available by the Municipal Library.
To mark and register this campaign, there is a giant heart at Praia de Altura, which aims to wake up to many photographs, from sunrise to sunset, in this one of the most beautiful places in the municipality.
With this initiative it is also intended to take the first step towards a broader project, scheduled for 2021, the “Festival do Amor”, which will be based on a structured network of partners, now under construction, and which intends to promote Castro Marim during the season months downtown, transforming it into a stage where St. Valentine's Day extends in time, where it can be any other day, and include in this context other initiatives already promoted in the territory between the months of February and April.
