They will return: 200 electric scooters return to Faro

«In collaboration with the Chamber of Faro, we are creating the best practices for the conscious use of electric scooters», says the company Bolt

Faro will have electric scooters again as of this Tuesday, February 3rd. after leaving from Voi and Circ, it's the bolt, old Taxify, who returns to bet on this service in the Algarve capital.

In total, 200 scooters will be distributed, equipped with GPS locators, which will allow viewing on the application's map which locations are indicated for collection and delivery.

In a press release, Bolt says that, «in the first few months of launch, to encourage people who live and visit Faro to try out the new mobility service, the unlocking of Bolt scooters will be 1 euro and the cost of the trip is 15 cents per minute, with a maximum fare of 19 euros per day».

“With the safety of users in mind, the maximum speed allowed will be 25 kilometers per hour. However, so that the first trips take place in a more controlled way, the “beginner” mode will allow them to limit, through the application, the maximum speed of their trip to 15 kilometers/hour», he adds.

David Ferreira da Silva, responsible for Bolt in Portugal, explains that «Bolt has the mission of helping people to move around cities more easily and quickly and electric scooters are an alternative to cars to travel short distances» .

“We want this service to be a safe option and, therefore, we offer speed control features. In collaboration with the Chamber of Faro, we are creating the best practices for the conscious use of electric scooters, in order to invest in sustainable micromobility and improve circulation in the city, while contributing to their decarbonisation”, he adds.

It is true that the two companies that already had, in Faro, electric scooters…abandoned the service in the Algarve.

To use the new electric scooter service, just download the Bolt application on an iOS or Android device, create an account and enter a payment method.
