82 students from Loulé compete for the municipal stage of the National Reading Competition

Loulé students will try to qualify for the intercity phase of the competition

82 students from Loulé schools will compete in the municipal phase of the National Reading Competition on Monday, the 10th, at the Sophia de Melo Breyner Andresen Municipal Library.

The students who will try to secure a place in the inter-municipal phase of the competition come from more than a dozen schools, namely Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura, EB1 Dnª Francisca de Aragão, EB1 in Benafim Grande, EB1 in Benfarras, EB1 Hortas de Santo António, EB1 da Tôr, EB1 Mãe Soberana, EB1 No.3 of Loulé, EB1 No. 4 of Loulé, EB1 Prof. Manuel Martins Alves, EB2,3Engº Duarte Pacheco, EB2,3 Priest João Coelho Cabanita, EB2,3 Prof. Dr. Aníbal Cavaco Silva, EB2,3 Prof. Sebastião José Pires Teixeira, EB2,3 S. Pedro do Mar and Drª Laura Ayres Secondary School.

This initiative "intends to promote a taste for reading and stimulate the training of written and oral expression skills based on the reading of literary works proposed to students from the 1st cycle of basic education to secondary education", according to the Câmara de Loulé.

Ana Farrajota (Inter-Council Coordinator of the School Libraries Network), Olga Gago (Municipal Library of S. Brás de Alportel) and Rita Moreira (Municipal Library of Loulé) will be the elements of the jury that will decide which students will move on to the next stage, after taking the written and oral tests.

The regional phase will take place on the 28th of April, in Tavira, and will feature students from schools in Loulé, Faro, Vila Real de Santo António, Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Albufeira, Monchique, Tavira, Silves and Olhão.
