The Municipal Forest Sapadores of São Brás de Alportel are on the ground in cleaning works to prevent rural fires.
«The team of Sapadores Florestais Municipais, equipped with an all-terrain van equipped with the necessary means, has been carrying out a plan for cleaning, maintenance, brush thinning in forest and Barrocal areas in order to reduce the fuel load near the houses», says the City Council of São Brás.
The works cover areas of intervention determined by the guidelines of the Municipal Civil Protection Service and the Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation (ICNF), being carried out in close collaboration with the Sapadores Florestais Team of the Serra do Caldeirão Producers Association.
In 2020, the Government maintains the deadline of March 15 for the mandatory cleaning of rural land, namely with the creation of protection strips of 50 meters around housing and localities located in rural areas.
