Suspension of Silves PDM to increase Zoomarine is already in effect

Suspension has already been published in Diário da República

The partial suspension of the Municipal Master Plan (PDM) of Silves, which will allow the expansion of the Zoomarine Theme Park, was published on January 26 in Diário da República and is already in force.

The expansion of Zoomarine will take place on land located at the back of the current theme park, which already belongs to the municipality of Silves and not Albufeira, in the União de Freguesias de Alcantarilha and Pêra.

The creation of a cable car that connects different parts of the park, a new wave pool, new parking lots and a park with photovoltaic panels are some of the novelties that Zoomarine will present with this expansion.

In addition to allowing the expansion and development of the "Zoomarine Theme Park", the partial suspension of the Silves PDM will also allow "updating the defined use regime, taking into account the significant changes in development perspectives" and "creating favorable conditions for implementation of the Silves Municipal Master Plan in its revised version, are the main objectives of this procedure», framed the Chamber.

With the publication in the Diário da República, provisional norms were also established, which “should be in force for a period of one year from the date of their entry into force, renewable for one more, if necessary. Its validity will end with the entry into force of the review of the Silves Municipal Master Plan or with the verification of any other causes of termination provided for by law».

Documentation relating to the Silves PDM can be consulted at Silves Chamber website.
