Mito Algarvio celebrates birthday with Grand Accordion Festival

The 8th anniversary of Associação Mito Algarvio will be celebrated on the 2nd of February, with the Grande Festa do Accordeão, in Castro Marim.

«This association of accordion players in the region has been working to enhance the entire language of the accordion», says the Chamber of Castro Marim, having been chosen to host the 2020 Accordion World Cup in its facilities.

In this context, the celebrations of the anniversary of Mito Algarvio count on the presence of Mirco Patarini, president of the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) and official member of the International Music Council of UNESCO.

The celebrations for the 8th Anniversary of Mito Algarvio take place at the “O Infante” restaurant, in Altura, at 13 pm, with a gala lunch for which hundreds of people are expected. The VIII International Accordion Festival follows, with the presence of renowned accordionists – world champion Petar Maric (Serbia), Fábio Guerreiro, Rodrigo Veloso, David Mendes, Rodrigo Maurício, Tiago Conceição, Hugo Madeira, David Mendonça, Filipa Nascimento and Inês Sousa. Also within the scope of the 8th anniversary celebrations, Mito Algarvio will give an “Accordion Concert” on February 1st, at Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense, in Faroat 21 pm.

With free admission, this show has the big names of João Frade, Nelson Conceição and Iurie Chiforisin (Moldova). It is an organization of the Associação Mito Algarvio in partnership with the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA), the Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense, Terra de Accordeão and Garvefole project.

More than the anniversary of the Algarve Accordion Players Association, «this is intended to be a celebration of homage to the Algarve accordion and accordion players, in a symbiosis of interpretations of an instrument that fills the history and popular imagination of this region», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.
