Lagos joins national observatory to improve urban policies

Câmara de Lagos will sign a protocol with the CCP – Confederation of Commerce and Services of Portugal

The Câmara de Lagos will join an observatory that will produce relevant knowledge and information to improve urban policies.

The municipality of Lacobrigense and the CCP - Confederation of Commerce and Services of Portugal will sign a protocol whose main objectives are to «promote an integrated vision of urban policies, namely in the articulation between public and public policy actions, develop initiatives based on entrepreneurial investment , foster an approach focused on services and contribute to projecting new cities and towns, as poles that stimulate territorial cohesion”, according to the Câmara de Lagos.

The idea for this observatory arose in the wake of the Services Forum on “Urban Policies, service activities and attraction of non-residents”, which included 13 municipalities on the continent.

«In order to continue this work through the creation of a permanent structure, this observatory will deepen, analyze and reflect on the role of service activities, competitiveness and the quality of urban life, within the framework of a new generation of urban policies”, added the municipality.

The observatory, whose general theme is “Services, urban competitiveness and territorial cohesion”, “has a strategic and national scope, proposing to expand the initial nucleus to a group of cities and towns with interesting experiences in the area of ​​new policies urban areas and with regional and global representation”.

In this way, the five CCDRs of Mainland Portugal, higher education institutions, public administration entities, central and regional and other Municipal Councils were invited to join the initiative.
