Quelfes games return in April with new modalities

Olympism promotion initiative to take place in April

The Quelfes Games return between the 17th and 30th of April, with new modalities and a new location covered, Albufeira, which in this 11th edition joins the Faro, Lagoa, Loulé, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel and Ayamonte, in Spain.

The 1st Cycle schools in the Algarve are being challenged to enroll groups, teams or classes in this event to promote Olympism until the 31st of January.

«Committed to valuing sport and promoting the values ​​of Olympism, namely through the experience of special moments, such as the praise of the opponent, the collective podium or the hall of applause, and as has been tradition, the organization chose some of the the region's most emblematic stages to carry out this meeting, such as the Algarve Stadium, the Belavista Stadium (Parchal – Lagoa) or the Dr. Eduardo Mansinho Pavilion (Tavira), also marking the debut of Golf and Beach Sports ( Ilha de Tavira)» summarizes the organizing committee of the initiative.

 

 

«In an Olympic year (the XXXII Olympiad Games will take place from July 24th, in Tokyo, Japan), the initiatives to promote Olympism, usually gathered under the banner of the «call to the games» will be part of the Olympic Cultural Program 2020, a calendar coordinated at national level by the Olympic Academy of Portugal», he adds.

Participation in the Quelfes Games is free.
