The end of the year in the Algarve had more tourists than in 2018

Spanish and Dutch markets grew the most

The overall average occupancy rate/room was 34,4% in December, 2,8% more than in 2018 in the Algarve. The end of the year thus brought more tourists to the region. 

According to data from AHETA – Association of Hotels and Touristic Enterprises of the Algarve, the German market was the one with the biggest drop, with minus 15,3%.

In turn, the Spanish (+23,4%) and Dutch (+18,7%) markets rose the most.

The accumulated room occupancy rate remains at the same level as in the same period of 2018 (+0,4%).

Sales volume increased by 5,0% compared to the same month of the previous year and recorded an accumulated increase of +3,1% since the beginning of the year.
