Festival Entrelaçados brings Contemporary Dance to Portimão, Lagos and Silves

There are shows, workshops and a masterclass

The new outdoor circus show “Acordo de Cavalheiros” by Ricardo Paz, which will be presented at Alameda/Praça da República, in Portimão, marks the official opening, on February 8, Saturday, at 15:30 pm, of the 4th edition of the “ Interlaced – Contemporary Dance Festival”.

The festival, which runs from the 7th to the 16th of February, in Portimão, Lagos and Silves, even starts the day before, with “OUT.LAND”, which is choreographed by Miguel Ramalho and Gonçalo Andrade and takes the stage of the small auditorium of TEMPO - Municipal Theater of Portimão, at 21 pm.

The Festival will feature names such as Miguel Ramalho, Gustavo Oliveira or Companhia de Dança de Almada, as well as street and new circus performances, a photography exhibition on the theme “Algarve, Dance and Art” and a wine tasting.

There will also be contemporary dance and Chinese pole/fabric workshops, as well as a Masterclass “A Voz do corpo”, all activities taught by the choreographers of the pieces presented.

The workshops and the masterclass are open to the public and aim to familiarize the participants with the author's line of work and choreographic method.

The highlight this year is the cultural exchange between Algarve and Italian dancers from the GODP group by Gustavo Oliveira, a Brazilian choreographer based in Italy.

Another highlight is the dance show “Out.Land”, the new creation of choreographers and dancers Miguel Ramalho and Gonçalo Andrade, which will take place at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão on February 7th, at 21 pm, with tickets for 30 euros already for sale at tempo.bol.pt.

Also in evidence this year will be street shows, which feature a contemporary circus piece on a Chinese pole with live music by Sílvio Rosado and original choreography by Ricardo Paz. The show is scheduled for the 8th, at 15:30 pm, in the Alameda, in Portimão, outdoors, but it may have to be transferred to the Auditorium of the Portimão Museum.

The same performance will be presented in Lagos, on Sunday, the 9th, at 15:30 pm, in the square in front of the Church of Santa Maria, in Lagos. If it rains, the show will be postponed to February 11, at 21 pm, at the Centro Cultural de Lagos.

The Festival is organized by the Dancenema Association and has the support of the Municipalities of Portimão, Lagos, Silves, the Parish Councils of Portimão and São Gonçalo de Lagos, the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the companies Kimahera, Subnauta, Sociedade Comercial Vouga, Clube Amarilis, Tivoli and VWeb.
