ISMAT design students will compete to create a new image for Alvor

Students will be at dawn for five days to understand the essence of the territory

The village of Alvor, in the municipality of Portimão, will have a new image, which will be created by Communication Design students from Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes.

The challenge for the creation of the new image came from the Alvor Parish Council, which identified «the need to not only think about the Alvor brand, but also about the experience/experience of the Alvor territory».

«In this way, articulating the work already developed by the A-LAB (Architecture Laboratory – Alvor) in conjunction with the Parish Council, design students will immerse themselves in the territory for an intensive week of project, where they will apply a creative process in co-participation to identify the DNA of the Alvor brand”, according to the Portimão Chamber.

The “D-Project – Marca Alvor” initiative will take place from the 20th to the 24th of January, between 15 pm and 00 pm, at the premises of the Alvor Parish Council. In these sessions, «students will implement the Participatory Design process, interacting with the community to identify the main material and immaterial assets of the territory of Alvor».

On January 24th, participating students will have to present their creative and holistic idea for the Alvor brand, before a representative jury of the town and municipality.

The winning project will be presented in March, as part of the village's anniversary.
