Eighty families from Vila do Bispo will receive a Christmas basket, offered by the City Council, until the 20th of December.
The municipality is already delivering the baskets, «composed according to the household and which include foodstuffs such as: cod, olive oil, flour, sugar, milk, canned food, rice, pasta, among other foods.
The beneficiaries of the Christmas baskets were identified by the municipality's social action services in conjunction with the local Social Security service (NLI), Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Vila do Bispo and the Cultural and Social Center in Figueira.
“This measure, which aims to support the most disadvantaged, will provide the neediest families with a more dignified Christmas dinner. This gesture of solidarity is of particular importance in this season and is part of the strategy that the municipality has been applying in the area of social action», according to the Vila do Bispo Council, which had the help of Intermarché de Sagres, from the Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel and Mr. Rui Conceição in this initiative.
