Three dead and eight injured were the result of an accident involving four cars, which occurred today at around 15:45 on Via do Infante, "just after the Boliqueime junction".
Contacted by Sul Informação, the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro revealed that the accident resulted in "11 victims: three dead, six lightly injured and two people assisted on the spot." All injured were transported to the Hospital of Faro.
The fatal victims are two women, aged 60 and 35, and a 5-year-old child. There are also two seriously injured, including another child.
The accident caused the highway to be cut in the direction of Lagos/Faro, which has in the meantime reopened.
In the rescue operations 35 workers are involved, supported by 17 vehicles, from firefighters from Albufeira, SB de Messines and Loulé, Cruz Vermelha, INEM and GNR.
