Santa Bárbara de Nexe unites against the closure of the Agricultural Credit

Board called a meeting with the population

The Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe is against the closure of the Agricultural Credit branch in this town in the municipality of Faro and he is calling the population to a meeting, tomorrow, December 7th, at the junta's premises, "with the objective of confronting this intention" of the bank.

Previously, the Parish Assembly of Santa Bárbara de Nexe had already approved a motion, in which it repudiated the intention to close this branch and asked the Crédito Agrícola to articulate with the board «solutions for the maintenance of a bank branch in Santa Bárbara de Nexe».

This is because, the motion reads, this «is the only bank branch open in the parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe and is the only option for many of its 4 inhabitants, most of them aged, with limited access to digital media. and reduced mobility in the territory. It is also the counter that most companies in the parish use».

"If this closure is confirmed, the population and companies affected will no longer have the only existing bank branch, which will have disastrous effects on the efforts of development and territorial cohesion that everyone wants and deserves", he reinforces.

Those elected to the Parish Assembly even consider that this is "a flagrant attack on the population and economy" of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, "potentiating the aggravation of economic and population desertification".
