According to the Castro-Marinese Chamber, «one of the biggest attractions in Natal» in the county, is made up «of more than 10 tons of the “best salt in the world”, promoting and strengthening this great economic, social and cultural engine of Castro Marim».

This is an initiative of the Castro Marim Parish Council with the support of the Castro Marim City Council and the company Mascarenhas & Mascarenhas, «which provides all the salt necessary for the construction of the crib».

For Filomena Sintra, vice-president of the Chamber of Castro Marim, this «is a sociocultural project that transfers soul to this space and that, in each edition, seeks to have a differentiating and attractive element, taking the good name of Castro Marim, valuing the same time ours White gold».

The mayor took the opportunity to praise the effort and delivery of the initiative's promoters, «in particular, the president of the parish council of Castro Marim, Vitor Esteves, and the mentor of the magnificent idea, Andrelino Pena».

«The Presépio de Sal occupies an area of 110m2, where more than 4500 figures are distributed, alluding to the story of the birth of Jesus, but also to the local culture of this territory, with space to highlight the work of the artisans so intrinsically linked to the Castromarinense identity. Thus, "workshops will also be developed, made public later, so that those interested can create their own miniatures for the cribs".
