Faro removes stork's nest from downtown for security reasons

The works are carried out outside the nesting period and with the proper authorization of the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests

A white stork's nest, on the street lamp post located on the roundabout in front of the Hotel Faro, in the Algarve capital's downtown, will be removed this Monday, December 23, by the Chamber for "security issues".

“The nest, which weighs around 400 kilos, will be removed for safety reasons, as the pole is in an advanced state of degradation, representing a risk to traffic, pedestrians and the stork itself”, explains the municipality.

The works are carried out outside the nesting period and with due authorization from the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF).
