The 12-metre Fin Whale, that was missing at sea, since this Saturday afternoon, December 21st, in Quarteira, it returned to the coast, at Rosa Branca beach.
The animal had first appeared early yesterday morning. Called to the scene, the elements of the Maritime Police were unable to remove the whale, which, with the force of the swell, returned to the sea.
Now, around 8:00 am this Sunday, the 22nd, the animal, which is dead, has returned to the coast, on Rosa Branca beach, next to the Quarteira markets.
“We have the Maritime Police on site and elements from the Loulé Council to see if we can, this time, remove the animal from the water. We believe so,” said Rocha Pacheco, commander of the Southern Maritime Zone, in statements to Sul Informação.
Even so, a notice was issued to the circulation, for precautionary reasons.
