Abel Matinhos re-elected president of JS/Algarve

Congress took place in São Brás

Abel Matinhos was re-elected president of the Socialist Youth (JS)/Algarve, at the regional congress that took place last Saturday, December 7, in São Brás de Alportel. 

Matinhos was unanimously elected and led the only candidate list.

This congress also elected Rui Anselmo, as chairman of the Federal Political Commission, and José Guilherme Teixeira, as chairman of the Federative Jurisdiction Commission.

Abel Matinhos, president of JS/Algarve, emphasizes the importance of policies to combat and adapt to climate change, encourage the construction of housing for all at a fair cost and adequate transport for the regional reality.

In the closing speech, the leader of this party structure stated that “we have to move towards an increasingly just society where women and men who carry out equal work can obtain equal income. This is not yet a reality of our time».

The opening of the congress was attended by Nicolae Santos and Pedro Pimpão, former directors of JS/Algarve.

The closing had the interventions of Luís Graça, president of PS/Algarve, deputies Ana Passos and Filipe Pacheco, as well as Eduardo Alves, national secretary for the organization of Socialist Youth, and Luís Martins, president of the Federation of Baixo Alentejo do PS.
