São Brás gives 2500 euros for "the worthy mission of defending animals" of the RIAS

RIAS turned ten in September

The City Council of São Brás de Alportel will support RIAS – Center for the Recovery and Research of Wild Animals with 2500 euros, to help this entity located at the headquarters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, in Olhão, to fulfill «the worthy mission of defending the animals at serious risk'.

This financial support will be a gift for the center, «known as the “wild animal hospital”», which celebrated its 10th anniversary in September, during which it received more than 14 thousand animals, 5500 of which were returned to nature.

With this support, the municipality recognizes the «special and prominent mission in the Algarve of the RIAS, both in welcoming and treating wild animals, as well as in research for conservation and in the area of environmental education».
