Loulé will have biodegradable dog poop bags

Biodegradable bags will be available at dispensers throughout the county

The bags for collecting dog poop that the Câmara de Loulé offers in different parts of the municipality will be made of biodegradable material, instead of plastic.

The Loulé municipality will place bags in the dispensers “made of biodegradable and compostable material – that is, in a composting process, they are transformed into carbon dioxide, water and biomass”. These bags "comply with the requirements of the European Standard".

The issue of plastic “is one of the most pressing issues of our time”, which has already led the European Parliament to pass a new EU law “that will prohibit the sale of single-use plastic products from 2021 onwards. measures now to achieve a quantitative reduction of other single-use plastic products', according to the City Council of Loulé.

"Thus, this initiative, in the area of health and public hygiene, emphasizes the municipal commitment to combating climate change and reducing substantial impacts in terms of efficient use of resources," concluded the municipality.
