Lagoa will teach for peace

The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation is a non-profit association

The Municipality of Lagoa and the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) signed, on the 30th of October, a cooperation protocol aimed at promoting a culture of peace in the communities of this Algarve municipality. 

The signing of the protocol is intended to promote “Education for Peace” actions with the educating community in the municipality, at different times throughout the year.

Within this framework, various exhibitions should circulate in schools and local associations, such as those entitled: “Building Peace with the values ​​of April”, “100 years of the Great War and Fight for Peace”, “Decades of Struggle for Peace” , “Celebrate Victory, Defend Peace” and “Defend Peace, Against Nuclear Weapons”.

Education for peace, whether directed to new generations or to other audiences, should also involve the exchange of experiences and various initiatives with entities that make up the Movement of Municipalities for Peace, or with other institutions interested in the defense of freedom and peaceful and cooperative relations.

The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation is a non-profit association that actively intervenes in the struggle for peace, solidarity and cooperation among peoples, defending the peaceful resolution of conflicts and disarmament, which promotes a culture for peace.

For its part, the Municipality of Lagoa has belonged to the Movement of Municipalities for Peace since 21 February 2017, having subscribed to the “10 Commitments for Peace” and joining those who consider peace as an essential principle for human life, an indispensable condition for the progress, well-being and freedom of peoples.
