The intersection of Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian with Rua do Alportel, in Faro, will be transformed into a roundabout. The work was awarded this Monday to the José Sousa Barra Filhos Society and will cost around 229 thousand euros.
The contract for “implementation of a roundabout at the intersection of Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian and Rua do Alportel” is part of the program “Faro Requalifies 5 and must be completed in 90 days.
The work includes interventions in terms of pavements, signage, public lighting and telephone infrastructure.
According to the Chamber of Faro, «this road solution will allow the improvement of car circulation in that area of the city, usually with very dense traffic, and ensure more safety conditions for motorists and passersby».
Due to the expected inconveniences of the work, the municipality asks "the understanding of motorists and recommends strict observance of the posted signs and the indications provided on site".
