PCP MP devotes day to fishing and labor issues in the Algarve

João Dias, elected by Beja, will ensure the connection of the Algarve to the Parliamentary Group of the PCP

PCP deputy João Dias, elected by the constituency of Beja, will descend to the Algarve for a working day around fishing and labor issues, on December 2nd.

According to the Direction of the Regional Organization of the Algarve (Doral) of the PCP, the deputy elected by Beja will ensure the connection of the Algarve to the Parliamentary Group of Communists, in the current legislature, taking into account that the party did not elect any deputy for the circle of Faro.

Next Monday, João Dias will participate in initiatives related to «the situation experienced in purse seine fishing (with the problems created by the ban on fishing for sardines and other species), in the harvesting of bivalves in the Ria Formosa (with increasing prohibitions and limitations to this activity), the rights of those who provide services to companies of "individual and paid transport of passengers in vehicles without characteristics from an electronic platform" known as TVDE, and the situation experienced at the labor level, by all workers Algarvians, victims of low wages, precariousness, deregulated schedules, unemployment and seasonality, in a region where tourism is the main economic activity».

The PCP delegations, which will comprise deputy João Dias, will meet throughout the day with Cooperativa Formosa and Olhão Pescas, with workers linked to TVDE and with the Union of Unions of Algarve USAL/CGTP-IN. Following these meetings, the PCP will develop the initiatives and proposals it deems appropriate in response to the identified problems.
