“Are we going to talk about Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias?”. This is the invitation launched by Café Memória, in a session to be held this Friday, November 8, at 17:30 pm, at the Estanco Louro Municipal Library, in São Brás de Alportel.

This is a project of the Alzheimer Portugal Association, in a session that promises to be “a very special part of the “Mais Família Sénior” Program, which meets with São Brasense families, monthly, on Friday afternoons.

Informing and raising awareness about dementias in a relaxed and informal way is the objective of this national initiative that is now arriving in São Brás de Alportel, after six years of intervention.

Participation is free.

“Café Memória” is a community intervention project in the area of dementia that complements the technical response, promoted by Sonae Sierra and Alzheimer Portugal in partnership with the Montepio Foundation, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Health Sciences Institute of the Catholic University of Portugal.

After six years of success, the project is now traveling across the country, reaching populations living outside the large urban centers, calling itself in this new phase: “Café Memoria is on the road”.

Contribute to improving the quality of life and reducing the social isolation in which many patients, diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other dementias, and their families meet and sensitize local communities to the growing relevance of the theme of dementias, deconstructing the stigma associated with it are objectives of this initiative.
