Students from Estoi discover proverbs of the peoples Magalhães met

Project culminates with a presentation at the Roman Ruins of Milreu

The Roman Ruins of Milreu will welcome 6th grade students from the EB 2,3 Poeta Emiliano da Costa School, from Estoi (Faro), for the presentation of his collective work dedicated to Fernão de Magalhães' travels.

This project has been promoted, since the beginning of the school year, by the International Association of Paremiology, together with the School Library and the Visual and Technological Education discipline of the Escola de Estoi.

The objective is to celebrate the International Year of Indigenous Languages and the circumnavigation voyage of the explorer Fernão de Magalhães, in the XNUMXth century, a theme that, in fact, this year is the motto of the DiVaM programming.

It was proposed to the students to recreate the expedition, in which the navigators were able to come into contact with different cultures in places like São Tomé, Cape Verde, Timor and Indonesia, by exploring the proverbs of these peoples. A collective mural will now be built to portray their view of the trip.

The activity “Traveling through Distant Lands: another look at the heritage universe”, takes place within the scope of the program DiVaM – Dissemination and Valorization of Monuments, promoted by Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
