Portugal Social Innovation gives 1,3 million euros to nine projects in the Algarve

A new tender has already been opened, with a total allocation of 2,5 million euros

Nine projects from the Algarve will be supported with 1,3 million euros for the Partnerships for the Impact of Portugal Inovação Sociall. The projects that will receive funding were chosen from among 13 applications made by Algarve entities for the second competition launched by the program and aimed at the region.

At the moment, and until the 13th of January, the third Partnerships for Impact competition is underway, which provides an additional 2,5 million euros to finance new projects to be implemented in the Algarve.

Already with guaranteed funding are the nine projects in areas such as health or education approved in the second competition, whose applications were open until June 6th.

The objective of the proposals presented was «to test, develop or expand innovative solutions to social problems such as the isolation of the elderly or the lack of political and civic participation of the youngest, among others».

In all, they represent a total investment of 1,9 million euros, 1,33 million of which – 70% of the total – comes from the Algarve Regional Operational Program CRESC Algarve 2020. The remaining 571 euros are covered by the contribution of social investors private and public (the remaining 30%). There are 17 social investors, including seven municipalities, five parish councils and five companies.

 

 

One of the approved projects is “CRIA – Algarve”, an initiative “which will create six Innovative, Therapeutic, Rehabilitative and Inclusive Resources Centers to provide an innovative response in the health area”, according to Portugal Inovação Social.

“O Nosso Chão Algarve”, «a tool in the form of a pedagogical game that will support young people and children in the acquisition of citizenship skills», is another of the approved proposals.

Also in the area of ​​citizenship, “Mypolis” receives funding, a “mobile and web platform that updates civic participation for the XNUMXst century and that will expand its area of ​​activity to Portimão”.

The “SER Mental – Specialized Network Service for the Promotion of Mental Health in Children and Adolescents” proposes the creation of a community service specialized in network intervention to prevent early risk situations in children and young people and promote mental health and “Volta ao Monte” aims to alleviate physical and mental inactivity and social isolation of rural elderly people, encouraging walking and promoting women empowerment involved to improve their health conditions and their quality of life. The Horta Urbana Social “Horta N'isso” project promotes social inclusion through the creation of an hour at the top of the Municipal Market of Faro.

The “Side a Side” initiative “fits within the framework of the paradigms of active aging and aging in place, offering a holistic and innovative approach in the area of ​​aging", the project "O Prato Certo" aims to "raise awareness, intervention and empower individuals for the replacement of healthy eating in their daily lives, through the Mediterranean lifestyle" and o “Rehabilitate for life” “uses alternative therapies, namely virtual reality, since this technique has had a strong intervention in the promotion of active aging, resulting in increased well-being and help to prevent loss cognitive and physical abilities'.

In addition to these nine projects now approved, there are another six taking place in the Algarve with the financial support of Portugal Inovação Social, namely the IluminArte Academy, the Loulé and Algarve Social Innovation Incubator, the AJO – Academy for training the Youth of Olhão, MyPolis – Citizenship 4.0 in Lagoa, the Café Interior – “Therapeutic Cafe” and CriAtividade®.

The third competition for Partnerships for the Impact of Portugal Inovação Social will have an allocation equal to that of the previous competition, 2,5 million euros. Applications can be made. here.
