A bird watching walk in the Municipal Park of Sítio das Fontes (37.1605708°,-8.4866265°) and Arrozais do Rosário (37.172010°, -8.484406°), near Estômbar and on the banks of the Arade, is scheduled for next Saturday in the morning, the 19th of October.
The meeting point will be the Nature Interpretation Center at Fontes de Estômbar, at 9:00 am, for what promises to be a pleasant morning, full of movement, melody and color.

On the weekend of 4 and 5 October, the 2019 edition of EuroBirdwatch (European Weekend of Bird Watching) took place, coordinated in Portugal by SPEA and other regional partners. BirdLife International coordinates the biggest European event dedicated to bird watching since 1993 and aims to raise awareness of the importance of migratory birds and their habitats.
At the beginning of autumn, it is possible to observe the arrival of wintering species or the departure of those that move south in search of climates with milder winters.
The municipality of Lagoa is associated with the event, at a time when its territory is crossed by thousands of migratory birds, with this bird watching walk at Sítio das Fontes.
With this initiative, promoted in partnership with the “A Rocha” Association, Lagoa aims to “raise awareness of the importance and beauty of migratory birds, alerting them to the dangers they face during their movements, as well as the need to preserve the places where they rest, feed and reproduce during migrations».
This year activities took place in 35 European countries. In Portugal, there are several activities in which you can still participate for free, requiring, in most cases, a prior registration.
