New project will make young people think about policies for low-density territories

The idea is to "foster innovative and sustainable opportunities for rural areas in the Algarve, through the creation of alternative spaces for dialogue"

The “RURALidades” project, which will bring about 1000 young people to reflect and discuss their participation in the planning and implementation of public policies in low-density territories, starts this Friday, October 11, in the Institute's regional delegation Portuguese for Sport and Youth (IPDJ), in Faro.

This project “will involve municipalities, parish councils, regional delegations and young people throughout the entire process”, explains Cooperative ECOS.

The idea is to «foster innovative and sustainable opportunities for the Algarve's rural areas, through the creation of alternative spaces for dialogue, education and cooperation between young people, organizations and decision-makers».

Since 2012, the ECOS cooperative has been developing work in close proximity to municipalities in the region, which originated with the beginning of the project “Algarve 2020: a young proposal” and later with the projects that followed and allowed for create a network of 93 partners in our region, including the 16 municipalities of the Algarve.

This entire process culminated with the launch of the 1st Regional Action Plan for Youth in the Algarve in March 2016. This project is coordinated by Cooperativa ECOS, in partnership with Cooperativa Contextos and Associação Liláz and is funded by the Erasmus +.Juventude em Program Action.

ECOS calls for the "participation of young people and the population in general to participate in this event".
