Fires in the Algarve were subdued

Fires that raged in Silves and Aljezur are in the aftermath phase

The three fires that raged today, Saturday,  in Odelouca, Silves, and in Rogil and Odeceixe, Aljezur, «have already been dominated and are currently in the aftermath phase», revealed to the Sul Informação Abel Gomes, 2nd district operational commander of the CDOS of Faro.

The fire in Brunheira, near Rogil, in the municipality of Aljezur, was considered to be under control at 17:50.

Shortly thereafter, at 18:25 pm, the fire that took place in Carvalha, near Odeceixe, also gave way to the means.

these two fires started just five minutes apart, in locations that are more or less 20 kilometers apart.

The 2nd commander of the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro, also highlighted the "almost simultaneity" of these two fires, which started at 16:30 pm and 16:35 pm, but also of another that consumed bush in Silves, which started at 14:55 pm.

In the latter case, the flames were extinguished at 17:25 pm.

“Fortunately, we have no indication that the building has been affected. Forest areas burned, but also eucalyptus and pine stands», concluded Abel Gomes.

The fight against the three fires mobilized, simultaneously and in general, six aerial means - planes and helicopters -, 150 operational and 38 vehicles.
