CHUA's Psychiatric Service helps prevent suicide with movies, lectures, zumba and yoga

Outdoor activities take place on the Passeio Ribeirinho de Faro

“A Guide to a Happy Ending” will be shown at the Film Club of Faro

The team of the Psychiatry Service of the Unit of Faro The University Hospital Center of the Algarve will promote film sessions, lectures and recreational activities, within the scope of the initiative “September – Month for the Prevention of Suicide”.

The actions start on September 18, at the headquarters of the Cineclube de Faro, with a film and social gathering that includes the screening of the films “As Horas” on the 18th at 21:30 pm, “A Guide to a Happy End” on the 22nd at 15:10 pm, and “Um Homem Singular” at on the 26th, at 21:30 pm.

On the 20th of September, at 10:00 am, at the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), there will be a round table with the theme “Smile for Life”. This initiative "aims to address the issue of suicide, talk about prevention, promote healthy behavior and present the resources available in the community in the area of ​​Mental Health."

The activity will count with the participation of Marta Brás, from the University of Algarve, Mónica Inácio, from Asmal, as well as representatives of Associação Voz da Esperança and members of the multidisciplinary team of the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health.

Also on the 20th, at 13:45 pm, and as part of the Algarve Medical Internship Conference program, doctors Pedro Ribeiro and Patrícia Marta, inmates of the Psychiatry Service, will present the theme “Medical Burnout”, at the Hotel and Tourism School of Faro.

The program also includes two outdoor recreational initiatives, namely a zumba class, which takes place on the 21st, and a yoga session, scheduled for the 28th of September. Both initiatives start at 10 am on the Passeio Ribeirinho de Faro, next to Teatro das Figuras.
