Silves Secondary School celebrates its centenary with a hard party

Highlight will be a celebratory dinner

The centenary of the Silves Secondary School, originally the Silves Elementary School of Commerce and Industry, will be celebrated on the 14th, starting at 17:30 pm, with a party that includes the opening of exhibitions, a dinner, music and a ball.

"Hundreds of participants, including former and current students, teachers, employees and the community in general," are expected at the event, according to the organizers of the initiative.

Those interested in participating can still register, following this link, but only after purchasing a commemorative bracelet, for sale at the Silves Secondary School (gateway) and at the Municipal Swimming Pools (Terezinha Guinote) for 25 euros, necessary to have access to the commemorative dinner.

The program will begin at 17:30 pm, with the inauguration of the exhibition “Directors' Gallery” and an exhibition on the history of this emblematic educational establishment in the region, both in the hall.

“The high point of the activities will be the commemorative dinner, scheduled for 20:00 and which will be filled with entertainment and surprises”, according to the organization.

The Elementary School of Commerce and Industry of Silves was created by a decree-law of 1919, "with the characteristics of the region and with the use of adequate means for this purpose that the City Council of that city makes available to the government", according to it was read in the official announcement of the Government at the time.

Currently, it is the Secondary School of Silves and headquarters of a group that brings together 12 schools in the municipality, where the 2019-2020 school year will officially start on September 13th.
