Witches, knights, peasants, innkeepers or executioners populate the streets and castle of Castro Marim these days. the medieval days, which end this Sunday, are reason for many thousands of people to head to the Algarve village, many from across the border.
There is no lack of reasons: there are horse tournaments, street theaters, many animation groups pass the streets, with jugglers, swashbucklers, fire breathers, pipers, tightrope walkers, swordsmen and contortionists, medieval music, Arab-Oriental music and dance, sacred music, or medieval dances.
There is also an exhibition of instruments of torture and punishment, it is possible to visit the medieval market and enjoy a banquet worthy of a king.
The ticket offices for Medieval Days in Castro Marim open at 15:00, while the activities and entertainment of the event start at 17:00 and close at 00:00.
