Odemira hosts International Symposium on Sculpture and Jewelery Show

Jewelery exhibition by Tabea Wimmer will also be on display

Odemira will host, from 9 to 22 September, the 7th edition of the International Symposium of Sculpture, which mobilizes six artists of different nationalities to work live along the riverside of the village and in the Municipal Workshops.

In addition to this Symposium, the inauguration of the jewelery exhibition by Tabea Wimmer and the Finissage of the Symposium will take place at the Misericórdia Church of Odemira, at 18:30 pm on the 22nd, in an initiative of Sopa de Artists – Local Association of Plastic Artists . The exhibition will be open to the public until the 4th of October.

The Symposium is a biannual initiative, promoted in partnership by Sopa de Artistas – Local Association of Plastic Artists, Municipality of Odemira and Dr. Manuel Candeias Gonçalves de Odemira Secondary School, which is part of the program of the September Cultural initiative.

The objective of this International Symposium on Sculpture is to constitute itself «as a non-formal educational tool for the community and for the art students of the Secondary School of Odemira», explains the municipality.

In parallel, it is also asserted as «a space for exchange between countries, promoting the approximation between school and the arts and a mechanism for the transformation and enjoyment of public spaces from new perspectives and new elements built in the place and for the place".
