Mediterranean Diet, Festival F and Nature Fest liven up September in the Algarve

A Mediterranean Diet Fair: F Festival and the Algarve Nature Fest are just some of the initiatives that promise to liven up the month of September in the Algarve.

Starting this Thursday, September 5th, Festival F will bring together artists dedicated to the best promises of current Portuguese music. Amor Electro, António Zambujo, Mayra Andrade, Capitão Fausto, Carolina Deslandes, Linda Martini and Ornatos Violeta are some of the names that will pass through the historic center of Faro, until Saturday, the 7th, always from 18:00.

Also starting on the 5th, the Mediterranean Diet Fair, in Tavira, will not only attract visitors through music – concerts by Pedro Abrunhosa (5th), Sílvia Perez Cruz and Kátia Guerreiro (6th) or Sérgio Godinho, with Nação Valente (Day 7) –, as for the usual producers' market, for the exhibitions, culinary demonstrations and for the institutional fair.

The Algarve Nature Fest is scheduled for mid-September, an event organized by the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) in partnership with the municipality of Olhão, to celebrate the Algarve's nature through various free outdoor activities.

The 20th is mainly reserved for students from schools in the second cycle of Basic Education in Olhão. But from 21 to 22 there will be boat trips, hikes, diving and sailing baptisms, Stand up paddle or mountain biking to experience from the Ribeirinho de Olhão. The full program is available here

In between, the Algarve receives a lot of music – Xutos e Pontapés (7th at 22:30 pm, Sagres), Tim Bernardes (18th at 21:30 pm, Cineteatro Louletano), 6th International Guitar Festival of Lagoa (from 14th September to 1st October, at 18 pm, in emblematic sites, monuments and facilities in the county) – and theatre. In this stage art, attention goes to the FOMe – Festival of Objects and Puppets, from the 13th to the 28th, in Albufeira, Loulé, Faro, São Brás de Alportel, Olhão and Tavira. In total, there are more than 50 shows with companies from countries like Germany, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, among others.

In dance, the 18th Flamenco Festival of Lagos stands out (from 12 to 14 pm, at 21 pm, at the Cultural Centre), while in sport, it speeds up on the circuit of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve for the FIM Superbike World Championship, with races in the Superbike, Supersport and Supersport 300 categories, between the 6th and the 8th.

And because the Algarve is a land of celebration and hospitable people, in September the festivals multiply throughout the region. From the 68th Festa de Alcoutim (13th to 15th, on the quay of Alcoutim) to the Festival do Berbigão (14th and 15th, in the multi-sport of Figueira, Portimão) and to the Beer Festival – OKTOBERFEST (from 26th September to 6th October, in Porches), there are many suggestions to cheer those who live in the Algarve or who are still on vacation in the destination.

Published monthly by the Algarve Tourism Region, “Guia Algarve” is a bilingual publication (Portuguese and English), with a circulation of 70 thousand copies in September and free distribution in hotels, travel agencies, tourist offices, airport of Faro, rent-a-car and golf courses in the region.
