Chamber renews protocol with Philharmonic Band and Aljezur Music School

Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Aljezur created, in 1988, its Philharmonic Band

The City Council of Aljezur and the Philharmonic Band and Musical Training School of the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Aljezur signed, last August, a new collaboration protocol.

«The local authority thus recognizes the work developed with its music school and with the Banda Filarmónica, one of the ambassadors of the Municipality of Aljezur».

The Chamber guarantees that «remains committed to maintaining support in the maintenance and affirmation of all the aspects it develops, namely in the work carried out by its Philharmonic Band, as well as recognition for the quality of the work developed with the municipality's youth».

In 1988, the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Aljezur created its Philharmonic Band, to which it associated the Escola de Música.

Since then, it has been involving musicians from different age groups. At the moment, the band has about 40 musicians.

The music school has close to 30 students.

«Both institutions are in agreement on the need to review and update the existing cooperation agreement between the parties, and it is of elementary justice to guarantee the presence of conductor Ricardo Pires at the head of the music school and as conductor of the Banda Filarmónica, where he has been developed a work of excellence, both in music education and training where the band has been growing, and in terms of the quantity of elements and in terms of their musical quality».
