São Brás took its elderly to Alcácer do Sal

Câmara de São Brás once again promoted the Passeios Seniores initiative

Alcácer do Sal was the destination of the Senior Walks that the City Council of São Brás de Alportel promoted in August and which involved 700 elderly people from the municipality.

The more experienced citizens of São Brás had the opportunity to spend a different day, "living together and fighting loneliness", but also discovering (or rediscovering) Alcácer do Sal, a municipality "rich in archaeological historical heritage and natural beauty inspired by the river Sado», according to the São Brasense Chamber.

During the morning, the tour included «a visit to the Church of Santa Maria do Castelo, to the Archaeological Crypt, a labyrinthine underground route where testimonies of human occupation from the XNUMXth century BC to the XNUMXth century cross and also a passage through the Castle of Alcácer of the Salt'.

In the afternoon, the seniors from São Brás visited the Aldeia de Santa Susana, «a typical Alentejo village, with rural and traditional architecture, with emphasis on the Church in the center of the village and the village theater», which was elected a of the 7 Wonders of Portugal.

The tours ended at Herdade da Barrosinha, "where you can learn more about the wine production process and enjoy the nectar of the gods," added the municipality.

The Senior Walks are an annual initiative, promoting active aging and quality of life, organized by the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
