Green flag raised again this morning at Praia de Faro

According to the municipality of Faro, "the hypothesis of an environmental crime eventually perpetrated by a vessel or other sporadic phenomenon gains strength".

Classifying the ban on the beach of Faro as a "one-off episode", the Council insists on highlighting the "excellent conditions of its exemplary sanitation network", as well as the "great quality" of the two WWTPs that serve the municipality and which "are extremely advanced infrastructures from the point of view technological and that guarantee the populations that Faro it is one of the Portuguese cities most committed to the preservation of the environment». One of the WWTP, which serves Faro and Olhão, opened a few months ago.

the beach of Faro had been banned by the authorities after the presence of the bacteria was detected Escherichia coli, common E.coli, at values much higher than those allowed. The red flag was even raised, prohibiting bathing.

One of the lifeguards who provide service at Praia de Faro told the Sul Informação that yesterday, when bathing was banned, "everyone respects, except in specific cases."

The same lifeguard considers that this morning, even because the news that it was possible to bathe in that bathing area was not public yet, "there seems to be fewer people than usual on the beach". But soon the usual flood will return, as the heat is tightening. It is the temperature of the sea water that remains uninviting.
