Groups from three countries take their folklore to São Brás de Alportel

Folk groups from Japan, Colombia and Slovakia will perform tomorrow in São Brás de Alportel, from 22 pm, at Jardim Carrera Viegas, where it is taking place the stock out fair.

this show is part of the Folk programmingFaro – International Folklore Festival of the City of Faro, which once again integrates a presentation in São Brás de Alportel in its script.

«Known worldwide for the historic atomic explosion of World War II, the city of Hiroshima, Japan, is reborn through music through the imposing drums played in a meticulous way by the group Sanyo DaikoDan. A group of young Japanese people, who have dedicated themselves for several years to performing art on Taiko drums, important elements of Japanese culture, played on special occasions, will start this meeting of Dances of the World», describes the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel.

“Colombia's hot rhythms” follow, provided by elements of the National Folklore Ballet Jaime Orozco, from Bogotá. Founded in 1954 by maestro Jaime Orozco “this group is the oldest in Colombia and aims to investigate, preserve and disseminate traditional Colombian music and dances within a very unique and avant-garde style”.

From Slovakia arrives the Folklore Ensemble Rozmarija, which counts in its original formation with 250 elements, from 4 to 72 years old, and «brings to São Brás de Alportel a representation of traditional dances, in a cheerful and theatrical spectacle».

Free entry, this initiative is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel and the Folklore Group of Faro, "with the objective of promoting access to culture, tolerance and unity among peoples through the valorization of cultural differences".
