Algarvia Yolanda Sequeira is the new national surf champion

Algarve surfer won the title in advance, in Costa Nova, and won the Miss Active Cup

Yolanda Sequeira is the new national surf champion and, equally, winner of the MEO Surf 2019 League. The Algarve surfer won the title, this Sunday, in advance, during the Miss Activo Cup, fifth of six scoring stages for the attribution of the title national female and exclusively dedicated to female surfing, which took place in Costa Nova, Ílhavo.

With her main rival in the fight for the title, Teresa Bonvalot, absent due to international commitments, the 21-year-old surfer from Algarve was left with the door open for the first title of her career, needing only to reach the final of this stage to stamp the conquest .

Yolanda felt no difficulties in achieving it, beating Gabriela Dinis in the semi-finals and immediately succeeding Camilla Kemp in the list of women's national champions. Camilla, who, curiously, had also stamped the 2018 title at this Costa Nova event.

“I'm super happy”, started by saying Yolanda after the end of the race. “I was hoping to hold the title in this race and that, fortunately, ended up happening. I'm sorry that some of the top nationals, such as Teresa Bonvalot, Camilla Kemp or Carol Henrique, weren't there, but the surfers who were here to compete surfed at a very high level, as I had never seen before in national surfing. ”, said the one who is the first in the Algarve to be the national surfing champion.

But the surfer was not limited to winning the national title and also took home the triumph in the stage, after beating Mafalda Lopes in the final. This was the fifth final in five stages and Yolanda's third victory of the season, after having already done it in Figueira da Foz and Porto.

The best national surfers, led by the new national champion, will once again compete in the MEO Surf 2019 League, between October 3rd and 5th, at Bom Petisco Cascais Pro.

Note also the fact that it is in this stage of Cascais that the men's national title will be decided, with only two candidates in the fight: the national champion in title, Miguel Blanco, and the current leader of the ranking, Tomás Fernandes.
