Algar has joined Zoomarine and will give away its organic compost Nutriverde to plant 42 trees in eight municipalities in the Algarve, in another edition of the reforestation campaign “Operação Montanha Verde 2019”, promoted by the Algarve theme park.
The two companies signed a cooperation agreement «to promote the plantation, under a pro bono, of about 42 thousand trees of different species», in the municipalities of Silves, Loulé, Portimão, Monchique, Lagoa, Olhão, Tavira and São Brás de Alportel.
The actions on the ground will take place in November.
By joining Zoomarine's “Operação Montanha Verde 2019” for the second year in a row, the Algarve's multi-municipal waste recovery company undertakes, among other things, to “make available, free of charge, the Nutriverde organic compost produced. by the company through the green waste generated in the region, which will be used to plant trees in each of the eight municipalities participating in the campaign».
Algar will also "encourage the presence of volunteers on planting days" and "provide bags and containers for the separation and disposal of recyclable waste produced by the participants during the campaign, as well as its subsequent removal and forwarding to an appropriate valorisation'.
“The objective of this action is to sensitize the population to the importance of protecting the forest, especially considering the numerous fires that have been felt in our country and in particular in the region. The consequences affect biodiversity, sometimes extinguishing plants and animals, stripping soils that, in extreme atmospheric conditions, such as heavy rains, suffer from landslides and loss. The initiative thus intends to encourage the people of the Algarve to plant a tree, as a way of contributing to the increase of the region's vegetation cover», framed Algar.
