Accordionist from Olhano represented Portugal at the World Cup

Pedro Ivan Gonçalves was the only Portuguese in competition

The accordionist from Olhano Pedro Ivan Gonçalves took 8th place in the Senior Virtuoso category of the 72nd Accordion World Cup, the main international accordion competition, which took place from August 12th to 17th in Shenzhen, China, and gathered around 200 participants from 25 nationalities.

The Algarve musician was the only Portuguese representative in this competition, but he was accompanied by a delegation that included not only his teacher, Nelson Conceição, who was invited to be part of the international panel of judges for the World Cup, but also members of the management of the Mito Algarvio association, who presented the 73rd World Accordion Cup in China, which will take place for the first time in the Algarve between 6 and 10 October 202).

Also highlighted was João Pereira, president of Mito Algarvio, who was named honorary vice president (2020) of the Confédération Internationaledes Accordéonistes (CIA), the organization that organizes this international competition.
